Abous Us~Quill Productions was formed as a family business in 2002. At the time there was widespread disease in pheasants and with the withdrawal from use of many antibiotics; there was clearly a need for better bio-security. The Quill Drinker below was patented and marketed so that game birds could readily be given clean water. There are now Quill Drinkers all over the world from the USA to the South Island in New Zealand!
Previous to the Quill Drinker many pheasants were using open water containers and consequently were contracting disease through cross contamination.
The poultry industry quickly became aware of Quill Drinkers and is now using them inside their chicken houses. Open water troughs or containers are currently banned for poultry use outside because of the Avian Flu threat. However, DEFRA has recently approved the use of the Quill Drinker as it is a sealed unit.
Quill Productions has developed into a company that specialise in bird health and now supplies sanitisers and immune stimulant products for the avian world.
With the increasing health problems in the small garden birds, hence the GBHI formation, there was an obvious need to develop the Quill Garden Bird Drinker.
The opportunity to buy a mail order country clothing business in late 2002 was seized and that now is part of Quill Productions and can be found on the web at
www.country-catalogue.co.uk. This business has expanded beyond our best hopes thanks mainly to a very loyal customer base which regularly order from us.
